The Valedictory Session – Conventus ’17

Learning best takes place in an environment which fosters sharing of knowledge, ideas and experiences. Conventus’17, the Annual Management Conclave of IMI, New Delhi explored the theme ‘Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics: Leading Innovation Towards Obsolescence’, by providing the audience a platform to delve into the intricacies and implications of the various innovations occurring in the arena of technology. The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Mr Amlan Pati, Marketing, Planning and Strategy Manager – Smart Phones, Panasonic India Pvt. Ltd, Dr. Avik Sarkar, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), NITI Aayog and Dr. Arvind Chaturvedi, Dean – Academics and Alumni Relations, IMI, New Delhi.

The summit provided a synthesis of ideas, thoughts and experiences on the theme of disruptions caused by innovations in the arena of technology. The audience gained insights into the role of technology in the corporate world. The speakers spoke about the way digitization is shaping up ‘Brand India’ and the impact of this on a global level.

Dr. Arvind Chaturvedi, Dean – Academics and Alumni Relations, highlighted the importance of the relevance of the data, which trumps the parament of the quantity of data while determining the nature of the data. Today, just gathering the data is insufficient. The era of digitization has ushered in the need to keep problem solving and value addition at the crux of our operations. The speakers brought in a unified perspective with regard to the need to constantly evolve and adapt in order to stay relevant. The speakers spoke about the changing role of Social Media analytics in determining relationships, preferences and consumer behaviour which is impacting both product and Marketing decisions.

The 8 summits and thought-provoking ideas provided by the 49 eminent speakers enabled the future managers to create an understanding regarding Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, topics which are of extreme importance in this era of digitization and constant change. Conventus ’17 truly witnessed the ‘coming together’ of ideas, discussions and perspectives with students, faculty and staff uniting to discuss the impact of digitization in today’s dynamic environment.
